Protection Films For All Kinds Of Surfaces
Protection film offers effective protection for a range of surfaces during decorating and renovation projects. It’s an essential product to have on hand to keep windows, floors, surfaces and carpets safe from paint stains, plaster dust, general dirt and unseemly scratches. Made from heavy-duty, rip-resistant material, these films offer temporary but immediate protection from damage or soiling. As they are self-adhesive, they’re quick and simple to apply and securely position and they’re also easy to remove, leaving no residue behind.
There are several options when it comes to protection film, and it all depends on what surface you need to protect. Read on below to learn more about the three types we stock to see which one you need for your project.
Window Protection Film
This blue LDPE glass protection film has been specifically designed to offer reliable, temporary protection for glass and mirrors. It’s an ideal solution for protecting windows when you are rendering and painting and it offers the added bonus of negating the need for awkward clean-ups, therefore saving you time and money. There aren’t even any sticky marks to get rid of once you remove it as the water-based acrylic adhesive allows for easy application and removal without leaving residue. UV resistant and tough, this film is suitable for use both indoors and outdoors. However, if it is subject to extreme conditions, high temperatures, direct sunlight or outdoor exposure, we recommended that you replace the film weekly rather than every 30 days.
Standard sizes are 600mm x 25m and 500mm x 100m, with other sizes available upon request.
Carpet Protection Film
No one wants their carpets to get dirty or stained during maintenance, decorating or refurbishment projects. For full protection against dust, mud and paint, this heavy-duty, self-adhesive clear film will protect carpets during whatever work that needs doing around it. While traditional dust sheets can pose a tripping hazard, this tape offers a seamless and smooth protective surface with extremely high puncture and tear resistance to withstand high foot traffic. Specially designed to prevent damage to carpet fibers, this film is easy to apply and remove and should leave no residue as long as it is removed within three weeks of application. If you’re using it in areas with high foot traffic, you may need to replace it weekly to ensure continued reliable performance.
This film is available in the following sizes: 600mm x 25m/50m/100m, 900mm x 100m, 1200mm x 100m. Multipacks and a fire retardant option are also available upon request.
Multipurpose Protection Film
This red-tinted, self-adhesive LDPE multipurpose protection film is mainly used to protect hard surfaces such as worktops in kitchens and laminate floorings. Made from heavy-duty, rip-resistant material, this temporary, self-adhesive film secures into position to prevent scratches, marks, paint, dust and dirt from marring your hard surfaces. Quick and easy to apply and remove, it leaves no residue thanks to its clever design and water-based acrylic adhesive. If you are using the product on varnished floors, however, you must give sufficient time for the varnish to fully adhere and cure prior to applying the film or damage may be caused.
The standard size for this film is 600mm x 25m/100m and multipacks are available upon request.
Application Tips
Ensure that the film you are using is the correct one for the intended purpose: the red film is only suitable for hard surfaces and must not be used on glass or carpets; the blue film is only suitable for use on glass and windows; the clear film is only suitable for use on carpets.
Before applying the film, first, evaluate the product’s compatibility with the intended surface. We recommend testing the film for 48 hours on a small, hidden area to ensure that there is no adhesive transfer or damage to the hard surface, glass or carpet.
Once you are satisfied that the film is suitable, prep the surface to make sure that it is clean and dry. Do not apply to a damp surface, carpet or steamed window, as this will trap moisture and could lead to discoloration or inferior performance of the product.
To apply the roll, lay it down on the floor or surface or place it onto the glass facing the direction of the area that requires cover. Push the roll forward a small distance and press down firmly to ensure that the film has adhered to the surface. Continue to unroll, pressing down and smoothing out any air pocks and checking that the film is rolled straightly.
Do not leave the film in place for any longer than 30 days. High traffic areas or outdoor exposure may require a weekly renewal of film. Check for adhesive transfer on a regular basis. Film must only be used once; once it is no longer needed, remove and dispose of it in accordance with local environmental regulations.
